Phonics

Our family is going on a camping trip. We set up our tents and unpacked our clothes. My mother cooked hot dogs and drinks to fill up our stomachs. My two brothers like to play football so they grab the ball and started playing. While I and my father and sister are having a walk in the forest.

Today on Phonics, we were learning about the 'Ot' sound. We made a list of the words with the 'Ot' sound on them and we then made a paragraph using the list of the words. We found the meaning of the 3 words using the dictionary and put 3 words into a sentence. Then after that we read the story and roll the question dice.

Collaborative Challenge | Budget of $200

This week for math we were given a challenge to complete together as a group. We were given a budget of $200 to do a weekly grocery shop for our maths group. We used an abundance of money to provide our group with enough healthy food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for one week. The challenging part was trying to decide what dinner was going to be, because most of us thought of different ideas, but at the end we chose which one was the best and cheapest.

Why is it important to show respect?

Do you always consider other people’s feelings?
It is important to show respect because it helps us to build friendships and relationships with others. If you respect other people, they will respect and trust you back. If you respect the teachers, they will respect you back and you will learn more and feel valued as a student.

Respect is to understand each other’s feelings and to help build your friendship/relationship. It is important to respect somebody's opinion even if you disagree, this is showing them respect. Help people without them having to ask. Treat people as you would like to be treated. Being able to have trust on other people is the most important thing.

This week, we did writing and we were gonna write an explanation about Respect. We have 10 minutes to plan, 40 minutes to write and 5 minutes to draft. I explained why Respect is important to us and what will be happen if you show Respect to the others.

Early Maori Enterprise

In the early 1800, Maori was the first trading company, who did bartering and haggling which means to trade and to negotiate. They would plant kumara and would bring back the money they got from selling, but they traded too many items that were not worth what the item originally was, or what it was traded for. The inland tribes often traded berries to the coastal tribe for seafood. Maori were the key producers and suppliers of agriculture produce. After trading many items, it explains why Maori signed over their land by the 1900s.

Maori were the first trading company.
They would plant kumara and then sell them.
Inland tribes traded food with coastal tribes.
Maori supplied agriculture produce.
They signed over their land by the 19s.

For Inquiry, we wrote 5 sentences explaining how Maori were the first trading company and then we each of our sentences needs to have 10 syllables. We count them by clapping, tapping our thigh and stomping our feet so that we know how many syllables are in the sentence. I had fun doing Inquiry and learning about enterprise and economics.

Phonics

It was the school holidays! We were planning to go to the beach and book a hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we unpacked our clothes. I’ve locked the door so no one will steal our things, The sun was very hot! We then put on sunblock to prevent sunburn. We have some snacks and cocktails. We go for a walk on the rocky beach and we could saw a boats on the dock. We had fun on our holidays!

Today, we were doing Phonics. We were learning about the 'Ock' sound and we then make a list of the words with the 'Ock' sound. We then use dictionary to find the meaning of the words. Then, we fill up the missing 'Ock' words on the sentence and make a paragraph using the list of the words that we made. After that, we read and roll the question dice. We had fun doing Phonics.
