Aretha Franklin

Today i created a DLO about the Aretha Franklin and her song 'Respect' and she was a American singer and a songwriter. In this DLO it shows about her life and the lyrics of the 'Respect' and this DLO was also for the Care Award for Respect. I found new interesting things about Aretha Franklin.

Tech

Today was our last day for robotics at tech with Miss Munoz and Mr Dunn. We worked on finishing our movies for one hour. I did the editing and Nidhi did the making of the slides and taking videos and photo to add. We also did some, filling out forms and the template of our movie plan. Our movie was about the M Bot telling us what they were made of and some interesting facts about it, We filmed our M Bot saying ‘Hello’ in Morse code using LED lights. I had a lot of fun at Tech and would like to say A huge thank you to Mr Dunn and Miss Munoz for making this a fun and exciting journey to learn coding.  

Kiwi Can

This week, we have Kiwi-Can and we were learning about is focusing on the task and what stops you from focusing on your task. We have a warm-up called Mexican Wave and sometime we move the wrong side because it's confusing, because we had to focus what side we were going to move. After that, we were talking about what distracts us and what i know is that there are many things that can stop us from focusing on our task like online games, email notifications, online games and chatting with your friends. We have a task about focusing on 3 things like touch, ears and eyes, what we need to do is that someone needs to be in the middle and the middle will gonna focus and try remembering what they said or write and there will be the left and right ones who's gonna sing a lullaby and tell a story and there will be the front ones that we need copy what is doing and the other one will be in the back ones who's gonna write a number which is really hard because you were focused on the front. Thanks to Kiwi Can for teaching us and we really had fun doing the task. 

Should New Zealand banned Plastic Straws?

This week, we created a DLO showing if we should ban plastic straws in New Zealand.

We had to give 2 points of view showing reasons why we think we should ban them/why we should not ban them. Provocation means a speech that can make people feels angry. Fact means a thing that were proved to be true. Opinion is what we think about or a judgement to something. Perspective means a way of regarding of something.

Aesop's Fables

During this week, we learnt about Aesop who was a storyteller and born around 620 BC. We search some other information about him and we even read his story. The comic strip that i made tells about the ant and the grasshopper. Every Aesop's stories had a moral to them and the story of the ant and the grasshopper was that the Grasshopper was lazy to get foods and shelter and keeps mocking around the ant because the ant works hard to find a food but then the winter comes, and obviously the grasshopper had no where to go and got kicked by the ant. The Moral was that we need to work even if it's hard someday you will succeed.

Persuasive Speeches

Last week, everyone in LS2 were doing Persuasive Speech and i wrote a speech about 'How does Alcohol Affect us' that's why i wrote this speech was because many people died from drinking alcohol. When we were doing speech we need to have an eye contact to the audience, expression, hook your audience with persuasive language features and especially confidence. They are very important when your speaking to make others think. My Feedback was being a confident to speak with a small group and able to make a persuasive speech because i never done a persuasive speech before. I think i should improve my confidence to be able to speak to the whole class and add more strong words.

How Alcohol Affect us?

Magandang Buhay! My name is Eyaka and I am going to tell about ‘How Alcohol affects us’ because 600 or 1000 people died each year in New Zealand.

In the olden days, some countries allowed minors to drink alcohol but now, it is illegal for minors who drink alcohol because it can cause many problems and can do serious damage to their bodies. Drinking too much alcohol has damaging effects on the brain. It can kill brain cells which can have long-term effects on memory. This is because alcohol has receptors called gamma-aminobutyric acid which affects the way the brain works.

Drunk driving can cause accidents. Over 1000 people died from car accidents and some other people who got involved by the accidents got severely injured. Drunk driving can cause trouble. Imagine being drunk and driving with your family? Imagine if you crashed and you or a member of your family were severely injured. How would you feel? How would your family feel? We should think about ourselves and others lives because drunk and driving can cause problems for everyone on the roads.

This is why we should stop drinking alcohol because it can cause you in trouble and can also affect others. We should think about how others feel before we do something wrong. Thank you for listening to my speech!

'Ank' Sound

My brother got drunk when he came back at our house and his ankle got injured. His Friends told us that they pulled a prank on him, they put something in his drink and my brother drank it. They said that’s why my brother’s ankle got hurt because he fell down.

Today on Phonics, we were doing learning about the 'ank' sound and we were making a list of the word that has the 'ank' sound. AFter we made our list, we had to think about the words with 3 to 5 letters and we start making our paragraphs using the list of the words that we made and underlining the 'Ank' sound.

Tiny House

In our Maths, we had a challenge that we are gonna make a Tiny House. First, we had to make a plan if where do we put our furniture's and we used our knowledge to create the templates, we had to measure it to find out the area and the perimeter is, we’ve measured, cut it and glued them together, we’ve already finished making our furniture, which is fridge, stove, bed, bathtub, and a table. After that, we had to put them on the base of our tiny house and paste them on. After we put the furniture, we design some 2d furniture's and we colored it to make it more lively. After that, we stick the wall together. We successfully made our Tiny House even though it’s hard to make.

Catapult

This week, we were making our Catapult that was made in a newspaper. First, we planned our catapult because without a plan it will be bad and so we even have given our roles. After that, we rolled a newspaper so we can use it for the catapult and some rolled newspapers were too long so we cut it and measure it to the other one. We already finished making our rolled papers and now we need to build our catapult and it was hard to build it because we only have plenty of tapes, because we use tape to stick our rolled papers and because we had to make it balance to stand up and we had made it shoot. We successfully made our catapult and we even test it if it's work and it's is work. Thanks to our group that working collaboratively.

Tech

Today at Tech, we have a challenge and what we need to do is write a pseudo-code which means is not an actual programming computer and it is used in planning an algorithm and for the next activity is to describe the code, how long does the program last and what changes do we have to put to make it lasts for 30 seconds. After we've done the challenge, we need to finish our movie and the others were now editing their video and filming it and us Nidhi was coding our robot because were doing Morse Code and we were doing having a hard time because we had to find out the code is and what we did is that we used LED lights and for the blue color is for the dote and the red color is for the dash. We really had fun doing the Tech with Ms. Munoz!

'Ake' Sound

Every party, my mother always makes a chocolate cake. She got all of the ingredients but she forgot the flour, so my mother went to the store, she looked around and finally found it and grabbed two packs. My mother got home, and she planned to make a pancake for us to eat. My Mother already finished baking a cake and we finally went to our friend’s house to celebrate her birthday.

Today in Phonics, we were learning about the 'ake' sound and we were making a list of the word that has the 'ake' sound in them. After we made our list, we needed to find the 'ake' words in a story. After that we were making our own paragraph using the words on our list. We finished by listening to short texts and answering questions about the story.

Tech

Today, we were doing Tech at Tamaki College and we had a challenge that is called 'Cliffhanger' which is the robot that will stop when it's the end of the table. Our challenge is a bit tricky because w need to figure out how to stop the M-bot and we need to test it so that we knew if it stops. After the challenge, we need to finish our Movie. We planned to make an Animated M-bot first and after we made it we need to film that the M-bot speak Morse Code and on the top left corner, there is a translation so people can understand it and the M-bot will take us it's favorite place. We really had fun doing Tech with Mr. Dunn.

Hour of Code

This week in Reading, we were playing 'Hour of Code' which is a game that we need to find out the right code and following instructions and we play minecraft and we need to code it to make it move and finding the treasures. I find it hard because we need the right code by coding it. 

We did the Hour of Code so we can understand more about Reading and following instructions. 

This is the certificate for completing the 12 levels of coding. 

We really had fun coding and playing the game.

Phonics

I have a black backpack and i pack clothes and snacks in it. I unpack my backpack for some crackers.

So today in Phonics, we were learning about the 'ack' sound and we make our list of the words that had an 'ack' sound. After we've finished making our list we need to put the words that was written in the paper in alphabetical order and after that, we make our paragraphs using the words in our list.

Tech

Today in Tech with Ms. Munoz, we were doing the coding activities which is we are gonna answer the question that was written on the slides. After we finished answering the questions, we had to make a plan to tell a about the robots and create or code the robot and explains what is it,  and we need a partner to work collaboratively because it's really hard to make a movie and being creative by editing it and after we finished our movie we need to show it on the others and give a feedback. Thank you for teaching us and we really had fun doing Robotics.

Phonics

The rat stole a hat from the cat that sat on the mat. When the cat saw the rat that stole his hat, the cat ran towards the rat and the cat scratch the rat and the rat is really mad.

Today, we did Phonics with Mrs. Linda we learned about the 'at' sound.
First we make a list of the words that we can think about that had an 'at' sound.
We've finished making a list of an 'at' sound and we make our own paragraphs using the words
from our list. After that, we had to listened to the short stories and Mrs. Linda is gonna questioned
us about the story. Thank you to Mrs. Linda to teach us to learn about English.

Swimming

Today we had swimming with 'Liv' she is gonna teach us about swimming. In Swimming, first we learned floating, we had to pick a partner to hold their partner to help us float. After we did floating, our instructor had a toy and throw it on the water, and we need to go and swim underwater. Next, our instructor teach us how to do the L diving. First we had to stand up on the side of the pool and the other of the feet needs to be in front and then jump on the water. After that, we need to do the L diving one by one. We really had fun doing Swimming and thanks to our instructor 'Livi' for teaching us.
